Title: Jan de Leeuw and Statistics at UCLA
Abstract: Jan de Leeuw came to University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Statistics at a crucial time in its history. We set out some details of what he found when he arrived on UCLA's north campus in 1987, what was there when he left it some 27 years later, and how he fashioned the changes that are now so widely recognized.
